Good news is *good news*

I heard a lot of comments today about how stupid it was to have the Royal baby on the news. The most common comment was "Who cares, this doesn't affect my life." My question is this: How much of the news really affects our lives. Most news is presented only to evoke emotions -- usually of sadness, fear or outrage. Most news doesn't affect our lives at all. There's a plane crash, people are killed in fire or there's rioting somewhere on the opposite end of the country. This affects me how?

I don't see any difference in the reporting of a royal birth or the tragic parasailing accident of two tourists in Florida.

Well, except for the fact that the birth of a baby is always a joy-filled and happy event and makes me feel glad. And in a world that seems only satisfied when it is in a constant state of fear and confusion, I'll take the good anytime I can get it.

I agree...it's nice to get good news once in a while. And I'd much rather hear about the royal baby than the Kardashian baby.

And yet these same people have 8 zillion facebook friends and share everything. They're just jealous of George. Also William and Kate.

I'm not sure as I haven't been paying all that much attention, but I got the idea that it wasn't that it wasn't news but that it wasn't the ONLY news.

*shrug* Still ...BABY!! <333
