Politics, so read at your own risk...

Taylor County restaurant to reopen along with government

This is what really pisses me off about the whole government shut down. The National Forests and Parks don’t belong to the government, they belong to the people. They are owned by the US population, not by the damn politicians who have their heads up their asses.

Shutting down an independent business and stopping them from doing business and thereby blocking the general population from conducting business with them is beyond stupid. There were no laws being broken, no inherent interest (besides political) for the government to do this.

This isn’t medieval England. National Parks aren’t equitable to “King’s Land”. The Federal Government has way too much control over things that should be up to the people who actually live and work with those things.

I’m fortunate that, up where I am, the Feds have very little interest in or ability to mess with us and we have a Governor who wouldn't shuts down the state parks just because the Feds wanted them to, but it’s still wrong when a bunch of idiots throwing a hissy fit in Washington DC can reach out and do crap like this, just so they can point to the other side and say “Blame them, it’s their fault.”

I am late to this but: the National Parks need Rangers. To stop vandals (Saguaro Nat'l Park has had 3 major acts of vandalism in the last 6 months), idiots "hey elk are vegetarian so I think I'll walk right up them", for information "can I walk to Yavapai Point from here or is it too far?" and maintenance. I think they come under the heading of "vital employees" but unfortunately Washington does not.

I don't know why not. Maybe politicians don't visit National Parks?
